Jillian Munsell is a 17 year old senior at Morris Community High School. She was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer on January 4, 2019. She is receiving all her treatment from University of Chicago Medical Center. On January 25, 2019, she had her 1st chemotherapy infusion. Her 2nd infusion is set for Feb 15th. Right now the plan is to have chemotherapy infusions and then some more scans, to determine the next step.
Jillian is the oldest of 7 children, she has 3 younger brothers and 3 younger sisters. She attended ICS elementary school and has remained very active with the school and church. She continues to be a lector and cantor at Immaculate Conception. In the summer of 2018 she got her 1st job, working at the local Dairy Queen in Morris, IL. Since her diagnosis, she has not been able to continue working. Her amazing coworkers have started a fundraiser, with 100% of the proceeds going to her family.
Jillian has a passion for Morris Guards. She has been on the Guards team throughout her entire high school career. Even after having her first chemotherapy infusion, Jillian was able to continue practicing with the team and even participate in a competition. She is not allowed to throw her gun or flag, because of her chemo port, but she can do the dance routine. Her team just took 2nd place in the their last competition. As long as she is feeling up to it, Jillian is allowed to continue practicing and competing with the Morris Guards. Choir, youth group, and yearbook are among some of the other things she enjoys to be a part of. After graduation this spring, Jillian plans to attend Joliet Junior College in the fall.
Thank you for checking out our page!
A Go Fund Me Page has been started for Jillian and her family. Jillian is seeking medical treatment from University of Chicago and will be starting 12 weeks of chemotherapy. The Munsell family, which has 7 children, will be facing many financial hardships, for not only medical bills but also things like travel, parking, and every day expenses. These funds will help relieve the financial burdens they will incur.
Several people have asked what they can do to help. There is a meal train that has been started and a Facebook page called "Encouragement for Jillian", providing information about her treatment; as well as details of where donations can be sent.
We want to thank you all for your continued support, generosity, and prayers!
